Payment Types Accepted

Bluehost offers a range of payment methods for its customers. However, there have been some changes regarding the types of payment accepted. This article will explain how to purchase a new account or renew an existing account using these payment methods.

Credit Card

Bluehost can accept American Express, Discover, Master Card, and Visa.

Check or Money Order

New Account

The Credit Card is the default payment option during the sign-up process. Suppose you wish to pay via card. Type in the card number, expiration date, and cvv2 code. The payment will process once you click "Next."

Note: The credit card used to purchase the account will be the default payment method on file. It can be updated at any time in your Account Profile.


Once the account has been set up, all new purchases and renewals are processed through the Shopping Cart. You can use the existing card or select "Use New Credit Card" if you wish to use a new credit card or Paypal Account and follow the directions on-screen.

Payments using a credit card or PayPal account can be made online. At this time, we can only accept Instant Payments, which means you must have a bank account or credit card directly linked to your PayPal account for the payment to process successfully.

By using your PayPal account with Bluehost, you agree to set PayPal as your default payment method for all future auto-renewals. This can be updated at any time within your PayPal account. If you choose to add a credit card to the account, it will be set as the default payment method for all auto-renewals, and your PayPal account will be used as a secondary payment method if the primary method fails.

New Account

To sign up for a new account using PayPal, click the "More payment options" link under billing information, and select "Pay With PayPal" before clicking "Next." You will be directed to log into your PayPal account to complete the payment process.


To renew an existing service with PayPal, click renew button on the product you would like to renew, then select Use Paypal under Payment Option. You will be directed to log into your PayPal account to complete the payment process.

Please note the following updates

  • New Sign-ups: We no longer accept checks, money orders, purchase orders, or wires as forms of payment for new sign-ups. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
  • Renewals: For renewals, we accept wires as a payment method. Please ensure that the wire payment is for the renewal of your Bluehost services.

Checks (For Renewals Only)

We accept checks for renewal payments. If you prefer to pay using a check, please adhere to the instructions provided below:

Our prices are subject to change at any time and without warning; however, the rate quoted on the invoice will continue to be honored as long as the payment is received by the due date or within 30 days of the date it was issued.

Services renewing on a monthly basis require an active credit/debit card or PayPal account on file for automated renewals.

  1. Ensure that the check is payable to Bluehost and is in US funds drawn from a US bank.
  2. Print out the check payment form provided at the bottom of this article.
  3. Complete the form by filling in the required details.
  4. Mail the form along with your payment to the address provided below.

Please note that it may take up to 15 days (about 2 weeks) to process and be applied to your account.
